CALL FOR APPLICATION- STUDY TOUR TO ETHIOPIA & SHETRADES GLOBAL

Dates: 9th – 19th of November 2019 (exact dates tbc)

As part of our objectives to support capacity development, innovation, creativity and create international market linkages in fashion, weaving and garment industry, the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) in partnership with SheTrades Gambia will support strong candidates in the weaving sub-sector and fashion design to participate on a study tour to Ethiopia and attend SheTrades Global. The objective of the visit is to support entrepreneurs with a replicable learning experience on growth trends, technics, skills, quality, standards and a perspective on international trade, and business linkages while instigating inspiration to innovate and launch better products.


APPLICANTS WILL BE ASSESSED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA AND INFORMATION SUBMITTED:

FASHION DESIGNERS: 3 PARTICIPANTS

  • Be a Gambian national
  • A member of SheTrades
  • Fluent in English
  • Letter of motivation explaining why your company should be selected, including
  • How the study tour would contribute to taking your company to the next level;
  • How you plan to implement any learnings from the study tour as part of your business/collections;
  • Why the connection to the weaving cluster would be relevant for you;
  • Pictures of any products or further details of any plans that would support your points made in the motivation letter;

WEAVERS: 2 PARTICIPANTS

  • A practicing weaver or effectively engage in production and sales of woven products
  • Fluent in English
  • Be a Gambian national
  • Letter of motivation explaining why you should be selected, including
  • How the study tour would contribute to improving your skills or take your company to the next level;
  • How you plan to implement any learnings from the study tour as part of your business.
  • Why the connection to the weaving cluster would be relevant for you;
  • Pictures of any products or further details of any plans that would support your points made in the motivation letter;

TVET IN FASHION: 1 PARTICIPANT

  • Working or managing a TVET institution in fashion design and or garment production
  • Actively engage in training of students in fashion or garment production 
  • Fluent in English
  • Be a Gambian national
  • Letter of motivation explaining why you should be selected, including
  • How the study tour would contribute to improving your management or production skills.
  • How you plan to implement any learnings from the study tour.
  • Why the connection to the fashion and weaving cluster would be relevant for you;
  • Further details of any plans that would support your points made in the motivation letter;
