NATIONAL YOUTH AGRIBUSINESS AND TOURISM EXPO 2.0 The Gambia has a host of enterprising youth entrepreneurs in diverse sectors of the economy all around the country. In line with GYCC strategic plan 2017-2020, Youth Empowerment Project objective (YEP 2017 -2020), to tackle the economic root cause of irregular migration through increase job opportunity and income prospect for Youth, The German agency for International cooperation (GIZ project); contribute to socio-economic development and to nurture positive prospects for local populations and returning migrants and as well to promote concept of ‘’Tekki Fii’’, Nema-Chosso, Building Resilience Against Food and Nutrition Insecurity in the Sahel (P2RS), with the goal to reduce poverty among rural women and young people through improved productivity based on sustainable land and water management practices, FASDEP whose objective is to reduce rural household poverty, through efficient use of arable land and water resources for agricultural production and productivity and the recently launched Ministry of Trade Strategic Youth and Trade Development Road-Map (SYTDR 2017-2021) and most important the National development Plan (NDP) overall align all the above program and place youth in the centre of its priorities, all these are clear evidence of the need to refocus our energy or direction in creating space for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services as well as to network. GYCC and partners intends to organise a fourteen (14) days Youth Trade Fair at the Independence Stadium in Bakau targeting 200 exhibitors across the country including Women. This, we believe shall increase the networking, business income, business exposure and creation of potential space for partnership and business linkages amongst entrepreneurs themselves. This is said to be a perfect period when our agricultural farmers are just readying for the market and a period when the diaspora are back in the country for holidays and likewise the preparation of Christmas, this shall create a very good connections between Gambians entrepreneurs and families abroad and increase the broad base sales of our business. During the Expo, GYCC and partners will organise side events such as Fashion Night, Business Pitching competition, workshops on packaging and packaging competition, Made in the Gambia Logo Competition, as well as food taste competition.
