The Earth Builders’ Association (EBA) was established in 2019 as a charitable and not-for-profit organization with the objective to promote the use of Earth Construction Technology, to promote the use of construction materials that are environmentally friendly, cost effective and durable, and to provide training for members and youths on the production of compressed stabilized earth blocks (CSEB) and the construction of buildings/structures using Earth Construction Technology. Key functions Under the direct supervision of the President of the Earth Builders Association and overall guidance of the ITC Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will perform the following functions: 

• Supervise the construction of a Compressed Stabilised Earth Block centre of excellence;

 • Facilitate stakeholder consultations and develop related agendas, concepts and reports;

 • Contribute to the development of technical concept notes and reports; 

• Assist in the selection of training beneficiaries; 

• Facilitate trainings and other project activities including the identification and selection of resources persons and partners; 

• Explore and facilitate linkages and synergies with other initiatives;

 • Design and coordinate promotional and advocacy related activities;

 • Engage different public and private stakeholders relevant to the implementation of the project;

 • Contribute to the development of communication tools and materials such as articles, flyers, press releases, blog posts etc. • Monitor project implementation against work plans and budgets; • Prepare project progress reports and organize the collection of data and information for project reporting against the project monitoring and results; 

• Identify and disseminate good practices and lessons learnt. Competencies • Core values: Integrity, Professionalism, Respect for Diversity

 • Master Degree or equivalent in construction, civil engineering, construction management or related field 

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in managing, supervising and working in construction projects with at least 5 years of experience in the construction with compressed earth blocks and other sustainable construction methods

 • At least 3 of experience in project management, administration and part of which must be in relation construction

 • Experience in coordinating and implementing capacity development programs Language Requirements: 

• Proficiency in English

 • Knowledge of local languages is a plus Knowledge and skills:

 • Demonstrated knowledge of challenges to the construction industry and environmental and natural resources conservation especially in the coastal areas 

• Very good understanding of public institutions in The Gambia and their mandates as it relates to the construction industry, environment and natural resources management

 • Knowledge about the green economy and related priorities for technical and vocational training services, particularly in sustainable construction technologies.

 • Excellent drafting and communication skills

 • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders from different backgrounds and industries 

• Knowledge of and experience in skills development and vocational training fields including understanding of challenges related to employment for youth and women especially in the construction industry
