Scope of the work 

  • Conduct skills gaps analysis on the identified 10 Farmer Field Schools as they transition to become Farmer Business Schools (FBS) and seven new Famer Field Schools (FFS);
  • Review the existing Farmer Field Training manuals and other relevant existing documents in-order to consolidate them while also adjusting them to reflect FBS needs, which will be highlighted by the skills gaps analysis and the curricula developed by the FFS & FBS. This process should consider, value chain links, women and youth, and climate-smart agriculture in horticulture, groundnuts, poultry, and small ruminant farming.
  • Conduct skills gaps analysis of the identified Master trainers for the 10 Farmer Field Schools in the transition to becoming Farmer Business Schools and the seven new Famer Field Schools based on the skills gap analysis and developed curricula of the FFS and FBS;
  • Conduct a TOT for Master Trainer based on the skills gap analysis findings for both FFS & FBS,
  • Analyze and recommend Start-up tools to support the Farmer Filed Schools and Farmer Business and how the support will be administered.

  • A customized but comprehensive Training manual for both Farmer Business School (on crops mentioned above, poultry and small ruminants)

  • Designing, conducting Training of Trainers (ToT) on FBS and Identified skills gaps on FBS and submitting of TOT report with pre & post-training assessment analysis.
  • 3rd September 2020

  • Provide recommended start-up packages and good governance models on their management for FFS and FBS
  • 13th September 2020

The work would be validated by the implementing partner (Department of Agriculture, DoA) and ITC.

Travel

Travel in the Gambia is required

 

Desired qualification and experience 

  • Consultant Masters in Agriculture,
  • At least eight to ten years’ experiences in (climate-smart) agriculture-related projects,
  • Five years of experience in Agric Business and value chain development,
  • Certified in FFS/FBS or Experience in the establishment of FFS and conducting TOTs,
  • Good understanding of agriculture practices especially of in horticulture and groundnut,
  • Excellent report writing skills,
  • Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and training manual will be an added advantage.
